Description The Department of Economics at Southern Methodist University (SMU) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor. We are interested in candidates with teaching expertise and interest in all areas of economics. The position entails a a three-year contract with the possibility of renewal and a typical 4-4 teaching load (that includes teaching-related departmental activities), and no research requirements. Teaching responsibilities will primarily be undergraduate courses with the possibility of a limited number of masters’ courses. The successful candidate should be ableto teach introductory and intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, as well as advanced courses in their area of expertise. We seek an innovative and passionate educator and mentor for undergraduates and graduate students. There is also the possibility of a second position for a candidate with a particular interest in teaching sports economics. Department. The SMU Department of Economics is home to an exciting group of researchactive scholars, lecturers, and staff. All faculty are dedicated instructors. Explore SMU at Qualifications Minimum Qualifications. A Ph.D. in Economics or a related field is required by the starting date of August 1, 2027.
