About the role
Under the general supervision of the Director of Admission, the Assistant Director of Admission & Coordinator for Campus Visits is responsible for strategizing, planning and executing all on-campus prospective student visits and events on behalf of the Office of Admission. This includes creating and delivering a visit experience that authentically represents the Grinnell experience and encourages prospective students of all backgrounds to apply and enroll as appropriate. Responsibilities include development of program strategy, program coordination, campus and student outreach, logistics, surveys, and CRM management. It also includes managing program-related communications and website management. This position oversees and gives direction to the visit team, a group of staff assigned to deliver an effective visit program. They also supervise a student staff of about a dozen Senior Interviewers and work closely with the supervisor of the tour guide program. This position works collaboratively with the Office of Admission receptionist, who plays an integral role in the daily visit program. The Assistant Director of Admission/Coordinator of Campus Visits will maintain a recruitment territory, conduct information sessions, and prospective student interviews, and must be able to articulate the benefits of a liberal arts education. They will also be responsible for reading first-year applications through a holistic reading process and will serve as a voting member of the admission selection committee. This position is expected to be able to execute responsibilities with limited supervision and is expected to model professionalism to early-career admission officers. This position is eligible for hybrid work, but must be on campus weekly and demonstrate additional flexibility in being on campus as needed. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage a visit program (including daily individual visits and large-scale programs) on behalf of the Office of Admission. In collaboration with the visit team, manage all visit-related tasks and logistics and supervise the work of about a dozen Senior Interviewers. Develop a visit strategy that best meets the needs of prospective families and give direction to admission staff members and student workers on program execution. Consult with the Senior Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships to help design and deliver campus visit programs for Grinnell’s selected admission pathway partners. Develop and implement a data-informed and strategic recruitment plan for a small recruitment territory. Activities may include in-person high school visits, college fairs, college advising workshops, and prospective student interviews. Minimal fall travel (1 week) and minimal spring travel (1 week). Review first year admission applications through a holistic, non-formulaic review process and serve as a voting member of the admission selection committee. Participate in on-campus and virtual visit programming, including conducting information sessions and prospective student interviews as appropriate.
