About the role

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Kearny, NJ.       Schedule: Monday - Friday, Training 7AM-3:30PM and eventually transition to 11AM -7:30PM.    You will make an impact in the following ways: Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products Maintain own tools In order to be successful in this role you will need the following: Completes complex internal engine repairs Performs engine overhauls unassisted  Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software   Compensation and Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications:  Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.  Experience:  Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Work under limited supervision in a fast-paced Union shop diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of customer applications.  Must furnish own tools.  Training will be 7am-3:30pm and eventually transition to 11am-7:30pm mid-shift.   -    This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing. -    A current valid license is required for this role -    This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations -    This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical -    3 years driving experience -    This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use -Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age Cummins is an equal opportunity employer.
