Description The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, seeks full-time faculty members at any rank. Clinical responsibilities will focus on care of children in inpatient and ambulatory settings at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital ambulatory clinics and other offsite ambulatory locations affiliated with the University of Chicago. Appointees will have leadership potential. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits-eligible. The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital is a 155-bed facility with state-of-the-art technology and amenities that offers world-class medical care to children from around the Chicagoland area and across the globe. These positions require collaborative physician leaders who will be positioned to succeed in a busy, dynamic environment and advance the clinical, educational, and scholarly goals of the Section of Pulmonology. The Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine program at the University of Chicago works closely with Pediatric Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial surgery to care for children with complex neonatal craniofacial deformities. Appointees will attend in the Pediatric Sleep outpatient clinics, interpret pediatric polysomnograms (from neonates to adolescents) and provide clinical coverage for inpatient sleep consultation services. The institution has an ACGME-accredited residency program as well as a Sleep Medicine Fellowship with 3-4 clinical fellows annually. Appointees will have responsibility for teaching students, residents and fellows in both the outpatient and inpatient settings at the Comer Children's Hospital and other practice plan sites and have a scholarly interest. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, 2) have completed fellowship training in Sleep Medicine, 3) be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine, and 4) have or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois. In addition to Sleep Medicine, expertise in Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Neurology or other subspecialties complementary to Sleep Medicine are preferred. Additionally, expertise in nocturnal ventilation management and caring for complex ventilatory disorders is preferred.
