Senior Project Accountant

About the role

Our mission driven client is hiring for a Senior Project Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for duties ranging from job costing and AP through construction loan draws and year end close. Additionally, you'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders such as auditors, lenders, property managers, and general contractors. Responsibilities: Own job cost accounting and accounts payable for development projects, working alongside the development department Maintain general ledgers for development entities, including journal entries and cost capitalization Reconcile intercompany activity between the enterprise and individual development projects Prepare and review trial balance reconciliations at the project level Track and analyze cash positions across development projects Process construction draws, funding requests, and disbursements Handle treasury and cash management duties tied to development projects Run year end close for development entities and serve as a resource throughout the audit Partner with auditors on cost certifications, eliminating entries, and Form 8609 documentation Review the work of Project Accountants and coach them toward accurate, compliant reporting Share responsibility for departmental financial statements so reporting lands accurately and on time Act as a point of contact for auditors, property management, lenders, and general contractors, and help meet external reporting requirements Document accounting policies and procedures for the real estate group to tighten internal controls and standardize work processes  Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree  Five (5) years of prior construction project accounting experience Proficient in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Yardi, MIP or similar software Background in affordable housing (including LIHTC, PSH, etc.) or real estate development Working knowledge of how construction projects move from start to finish, plus the entity structures common to affordable housing deals Strong written and verbal communication Compensation: *The below represents the lowest to highest expected salary range for this job opening upon hire.
