Working alongside software, data, cybersecurity, network, infrastructure, and Government stakeholders, you’ll turn mission requirements into  reliable, operationally ready capabilities  through modern  DevSecOps practices.   Join a team where your technical leadership will directly connect advanced systems and data to  trusted operational insight, strengthen  maritime situational awareness, and support  decisions that matter. Responsibilities As a  Senior Mission Integration Software Engineer  at AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to: Engineer secure integration solutions  by designing, developing, configuring, testing, and supporting software components, APIs, services, deployment packages, automation, and mission application interfaces. Accelerate mission application onboarding  by partnering with software development IPTs, platform and compute teams, cloud architects, data teams, cybersecurity, network, enterprise services, operations, and Government stakeholders. Create repeatable integration patterns  that support DevSecOps alignment, application profiling, interface control, test evidence, monitoring integration, production handoff, and operational readiness. Translate application requirements into integration plans  by documenting architecture, dependencies, runtime and compute needs, storage, networking, identity requirements, API specifications, and deployment approaches. Develop and maintain technical artifacts, including interface control documents, API specifications, schemas, message definitions, service dependency profiles, deployment manifests, test results, release notes, and operational runbook inputs. Build and support modern integration solutions  using APIs, message brokers, streaming services, secure file transfer, containerized workloads, service endpoints, configuration management, and secrets management. Coordinate with cross-functional technical teams  to ensure integrations meet approved architecture, access, encryption, logging, monitoring, authorization, and compliance requirements. Apply DevSecOps practices  throughout the software lifecycle, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security scanning, release management, and change control. Support identity and access integration  by incorporating attribute-based access control, policy enforcement points, service accounts, certificates, keys, secrets, and entitlement requirements. Evaluate integration performance and readiness  through testing focused on functionality, data movement, error handling, resilience, failover, logging, auditability, monitoring, and operational support. Resolve complex technical issues  involving software defects, dependencies, deployment failures, interface errors, service availability, data flows, and production support incidents. Strengthen mission reliability and delivery speed  by developing reusable software patterns, improving technical documentation, capturing lessons learned, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. Bachelor’s degree  in computer science, software engineering, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field. At least 11 years of relevant professional experience  in software engineering, application and systems integration, API development, DevSecOps, cloud-native engineering, or mission systems development. Demonstrated experience building, configuring, or integrating  APIs, services, adapters, applications, message-based and streaming interfaces, secure file transfer workflows, or containerized workloads. Proficiency with software development lifecycle and delivery practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, configuration and version control, change management, security scanning, and release processes. Ability to produce and maintain technical documentation, such as application architecture diagrams, API specifications, schemas, message definitions, deployment manifests, dependency profiles, test results, release notes, and operational runbook content. Working knowledge of cloud and hybrid hosting environments, identity integration, attribute-based access control concepts, encryption, PKI, certificates, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and audit requirements. Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across software, data, cloud, platform, network, cybersecurity, compliance, operations, mission, and Government teams. Background supporting secure or mission-critical systems, including requirements traceability, authorization documentation, operational readiness activities, and production support.
