Overview About the Role This self-directed position is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise reporting and analytical solutions across clinical, operational, financial data. The Senior Hospital Applications Analyst partners with operational stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and develop reliable, scalable, and maintainable data and reporting solutions. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Partners with clinical, operational, financial, and business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical needs and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Designs, develops, modifies, tests, implements, and maintains reports, dashboards, datasets, data extracts, and analytical solutions using appropriate reporting tools. Applies programming and scripting skills to automate processes, develop analytical solutions, and improve reporting efficiency. Evaluates existing reports and analytical processes and recommends opportunities for standardization, optimization, automation, and improved data accessibility. Creates technical specifications, and other documentation necessary to support development and maintenance of reporting solutions. Triages incoming reporting and data requests, clarifies the underlying business need, assesses complexity and priority, and determines the appropriate data source, reporting tool, or analytical approach. Provides training and guidance to users on use of self-service reporting and analytics capabilities. Collaborates with application teams to understand workflow, documentation standards and potential gaps.Acts as a liaison between IST and the end user communities. Works independently, manages multiple priorities, analyzes complex problems, communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, and work collaboratively with business users, application teams, and other technical teams. Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Bachelor’s Degree, with preference for a health-related discipline (Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.), Computer Science, Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Science, or related field. Three (3) years of experience in information systems with preference given to candidates from a patient care environment. Must complete certification on an Epic application specified by management within 6 months of training. Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases and data warehouse environments, data structures, and data analysis. Experience with Epic reporting tools is highly valuable; however, the role is not limited to Epic and requires the ability to work across multiple data platforms and technologies Experience developing reports, dashboards, datasets, data extracts, or analytical solutions using business intelligence or reporting tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex data and reporting issues and identify root causes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and competing priorities. Preferred: Experience with Epic reporting and analytics tools, including Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, dashboards, or other Epic reporting technologies, is preferred. Prior Epic experience is highly desirable. Direct experience with electronic medical records is preferred. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
