Description   Open Rank, Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Position in Biomedical and Health Informatics   The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences (PQHS) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI). We seek outstanding candidates at any career stage who are motivated to build, expand, and sustain an innovative, forward-looking research program. Leadership opportunities may be discussed for outstanding experienced candidates. Qualifications Successful candidates will demonstrate: A PhD, MD, or equivalent terminal degree in Biomedical and Health Informatics or a closely related field Expertise in one or more areas of BHI, with a strong scholarly record External research funding commensurate with experience and academic rank Interest in both independent and collaborative research within a highly interdisciplinary environment Areas of Strategic Interest While candidates with expertise across all areas of BHI are encouraged to apply, the department has a strong strategic interest in artificial intelligence–driven approaches to biomedical and medical research, including: Artificial intelligence and machine learning methods (e.g., deep learning, neural networks, foundation models) for biomedical and clinical applications AI-enabled analysis of clinical and translational data, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and other real-world data sources Natural language processing and multimodal modeling of clinical text, imaging, and other unstructured health data Big data analytics and data science approaches that support scalable, reproducible, and trustworthy AI in healthcare AI-driven learning healthcare systems, clinical decision support, and precision medicine Spatial data analytics and GIS-based health research, including integration with AI methods for population and public health studies Collaborative Environment Faculty benefit from extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across CWRU and its affiliated institutions, including: Cleveland Institute for Computational Biology ( ) Comprehensive Cancer Center Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) ( ) GIS Health & Hazards Lab ( In addition, faculty work closely with internationally renowned healthcare systems, such as: Cleveland Clinic University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center MetroHealth Medical Center This rich clinical and research ecosystem provides unparalleled access to diverse data resources, translational research opportunities, and real-world impact.
