About the role

Overview Our client is seeking a Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure across approximately 150 U.S. office locations. This role will focus heavily on network modernization initiatives, including Meraki deployments, SD-WAN technologies, cloud networking, and network security. Required Experience 3-5+ years of network engineering experience (additional experience may be considered in place of a degree) Recent hands-on networking experience in a production environment Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related STEM field preferred Military experience or equivalent network-specific experience will also be considered Technical Requirements Network engineering fundamentals, including: Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) Cisco routers and switches TCP/IP networking LAN/WAN design and support Cisco Meraki experience: Wireless and switch configuration/management Experience deploying Meraki wireless solutions across multiple locations SD-WAN experience, preferably Aruba Silver Peak Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) experience Experience creating and managing firewall security policies, monitoring traffic, and troubleshooting connectivity issues Azure networking experience, including: VNets NSG management Experience with network security platforms such as: Zscaler Netskope Prisma Access VPN configuration and support (Site-to-Site VPNs) Packet analysis and troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark Preferred Qualifications Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) or CWNA Experience with Cisco ISE and Cisco ACI Palo Alto or Cisco Firepower firewall experience SolarWinds experience Experience supporting enterprise data center and campus networking environments Key Responsibilities Assist with the design, architecture, configuration, and implementation of enterprise network solutions Support network modernization projects, including: Replacing Cisco Catalyst switches with Meraki switches Branch office wireless deployments SD-WAN infrastructure deployment and support Collaborate with project teams to deliver networking solutions and meet project requirements Provide Tier 3 support for network-related incidents and outages Create and maintain technical documentation Assist with network security initiatives, including firewall rules, routing changes, and traffic analysis Support and train network operations teams on new technologies and processes Evaluate and help implement new networking technologies and vendor solutions Environment & Technologies Cisco Routers & Switches Cisco Meraki Aruba Silver Peak SD-WAN Zscaler Cisco ISE Cisco ACI Azure Networking Palo Alto / Firepower Firewalls Wireshark Enterprise LAN/WAN Infrastructure Additional Information Company is currently deploying Meraki switches and wireless solutions across branch offices Cisco Catalyst switches are being replaced with Meraki infrastructure Goal of 6-7 network cutovers per week Training will be provided on Cisco ISE, Cisco ACI, and other technologies as needed Position may require work outside normal business hours for planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency support Top Skills: Network Engineering, Cisco Routing & Switching, Cisco Meraki, SD-WAN, Network Security, Azure Networking. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
