IT Cyber Security Engineer Reports to: Director - IT Network Services Salary: $86,673-$104,426 Pay Grade: 506 Duty Days: 239 FLSA Status: Exempt PC#: 23437 POSITION PURPOSE Leads and mentors the network engineering personnel in terms of switching and routing, distance learning and collaboration, wireless, VOIP and security; researches, designs, builds, tests, and deploys the district wide LAN/WLAN/WAN environments.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Act as lead for deploying, configuring and monitoring network equipment, and network usage and systems availability. Provides lead support and troubleshooting for IP technologies, including but not limited to, network connectivity, routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, HSRP), VPNs, Load balancing, and QoS. Provides lead support and troubleshooting for Layer 2 technologies, including but not limited to, Ethernet (Switched, FastE, and GigE), Spanning Tree, VLANs, VTP, Trunking and Virtual environments. Provides configuration and troubleshooting support for Switches, Routers, Load Balancers, VPN concentrators, ASA firewalls, Firewall Service Modules, Wireless Controllers and Cisco TelePresence hardware and software. Provides 3rd level troubleshooting and problem resolution. Supports Fort Worth ISD Cisco network, Call Manager and IP telephony solutions. Participates in development of design and architectural strategy to include technology standardization and modernization. Collects and analyzes data about the performance and capacity of the network and its components. Reviews switch and router configurations to ensure conformity with districts design and security policies. Assists IT security personnel in monitoring, reporting and auditing network enterprise. Develops design standards and guidelines, and collaborates with other peers and architects on IT best practice solutions. Designs and configures QoS. Configures Netflow. Works with Network Director and Network Manager to design, implement, and monitor district initiatives and support such as Distance Learning.   PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS All Fort Worth ISD employees must maintain a commitment to the District's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Knowledge of load balancer configuration and support.? Knowledge of Cisco wireless controllers configuration and deployment. Knowledge of Unified Communications and Cisco TelePresence. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use software to create spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing. Ability to organize and coordinate work.? Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written forms. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.   TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.    PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Work is performed in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours Attendance:  Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
