About the role
Intern – Construction Management / Civil Engineering Location: Naval Station Norfolk / Virginia Beach, VA (On-Site, Project Job Trailer) ECC is seeking a motivated junior or senior undergraduate student (minimum 3.0 GPA preferred) pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field to join our team on a major military construction project in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. This on-site internship offers hands-on experience supporting project management, field operations, quality control, and construction administration activities on the construction of a new parking garage and NATO Command Building. Position Details: Hours: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week Duration: Summer 2027 Compensation: $24.00/hour Reporting to: Project Manager Project-Based Position: Daily attendance at the project site is expected Security Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain military base access Driving Requirement: Intern may be required to operate a vehicle on the project site Learning Opportunities: Interns will gain exposure to large-scale vertical construction, parking structure development, military construction requirements, project scheduling, quality control processes, subcontractor coordination, and construction management best practices. Participants will work directly with project leadership and gain valuable experience supporting complex federal construction projects. Responsibilities: Support Project Manager, Superintendent, and Quality Control staff with daily construction operations Assist with project documentation, reporting, and field inspections Attend project coordination meetings and prepare meeting minutes Track project progress and support schedule updates Assist with subcontractor coordination and field communication Support preparation and organization of project records, logs, and closeout documentation Observe and promote project safety and quality standards Skills & Qualifications: Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced field environment Self-motivated with a desire to learn construction project management processes ECC's targeted hourly rate for this position is $24.00 per hour. Actual pay may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, and business needs.
