About the role

Job Description Provides IT support for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (CLAHS), including the setup, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of Windows and MacOS computers. Collaborates with the CLAHS-IT team to assist faculty and staff by responding to service requests through ServiceNow, email, and phone support and remote support. Provide friendly, customer-focused technical assistance while identifying, analyzing and resolving hardware, software, printers, scanners, other peripherals, and internet issues. Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues, maintains detailed documentation, creates user guides, and assists with college equipment audits and equipment surplus processes. Required Qualifications ● A bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. ● Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems ● Experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software ● Knowledge of endpoint management frameworks including HCL BigFix, Jamf, or Microsoft Intune ● Demonstrated ability to interface with end users ● Good interpersonal, customer support, verbal and technical writing skills Preferred Qualifications ● Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow ● Experience working with computers in JAMF and inTune ● Experience in an IT support or help desk environment ● Experience with backup systems like CrashPlan/Code42, Google Drive, OneDrive and Time Machine ● Experience with SimpleHelp or a known remote application ● Knowledge of Fixed Assets and surplus systems Pay Band 4 Overtime Status Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime Appointment Type Regular Salary Information Commensurate with experience: $50,000 to $56,000 Hours per week 40 Review Date 09/15/26 Additional Information   The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.   About Virginia Tech Dedicated to its motto,  Ut Prosim  (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
