About the role
Description The Information Security Engineer is responsible for implementing, operating, maintaining, and improving cybersecurity controls that protect the our client's infrastructure, applications, endpoints, networks, cloud services, AI-enabled technologies, and data. We are seeking a security professional who can contribute beyond reactive security operations and help mature the organization's cybersecurity capabilities through project work, technology implementations, operational improvements, and security program development. The ideal candidate is a security generalist who understands how security technologies, processes, and governance work together across an enterprise environment. This individual will support ongoing security operations while also driving projects, participating in tool implementations, improving cybersecurity awareness efforts, and helping strengthen the overall security posture. Essential Responsibilities Implement, configure, maintain, and improve security controls across infrastructure, applications, endpoints, cloud services, AI-enabled technologies, and enterprise systems. Monitor security events and alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and coordinate threat investigations and incident response activities. Perform threat hunting, threat analysis, forensic investigations, and vulnerability management activities. Conduct vulnerability assessments, prioritize findings, support remediation efforts, and validate corrective actions. Support penetration testing, security assessments, security control validation, and remediation activities. Participate in cybersecurity projects, system upgrades, security technology implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support and improve cybersecurity awareness programs, including training, communications, phishing simulations, and awareness campaigns. Collaborate with internal IT teams and external cybersecurity providers to strengthen security operations and monitoring capabilities. Support implementation and adoption of new security technologies and services. Preferred Candidate Profile The successful candidate will: Have an engineering mindset and be comfortable solving new security challenges. Demonstrate experience leading cybersecurity initiatives and projects. Be adaptable and able to learn new technologies quickly. Understand security concepts rather than relying solely on expertise with a specific tool. Bring experience from large enterprise or highly regulated environments. Show strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills. Be humble, coachable, customer-focused, and eager to learn. Possess a positive attitude and willingness to support the team when needed. Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience Strong understanding of networking and security concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, TLS, firewalls, and network security principles. Experience with EDR/XDR platforms, threat detection technologies, vulnerability management tools, incident response, and security operations. Knowledge of security frameworks, risk management, governance, and compliance. Experience securing Windows environments and Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Entra ID and Office 365. Experience supporting security assessments, investigations, and forensic activities. Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication abilities. Experience with cybersecurity awareness programs and security-focused training initiatives. Familiarity with AI-enabled technologies and willingness to leverage AI to solve problems and improve security outcomes. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $57.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
