We are   seeking   a dynamic and   creative Firmware Engineer to join our Core Technologies Team in Rochester, NY.   Bring your unique talents and enthusiasm and help us shape the future of Biamp's   innovative products.   As part of this role,   you'll   help us rethink how firmware gets built.   We're   actively   integrating AI-assisted development into our engineering workflow — using tools like   Claude Code and similar AI coding assistants to speed up everything from writing and   refactoring embedded Linux code to debugging drivers, generating unit tests, and   navigating unfamiliar codebases. You   won't   just be writing C++ by hand;   you'll   be   learning to pair effectively with AI to move faster on multithreaded applications, driver   development, and networking products, while still applying the deep systems-level   judgment that AI   can't   replace. If you're excited about being on the leading edge of how firmware teams actually work in an AI-augmented world, this is the place to figure that   out.     How   you’ll   contribute:     Develop, test, and   maintain   critical firmware components that are central   to Biamp’s innovative products and solutions Lead efforts in developing   cutting-edge   technologies that are integral to   Biamp’s products, enhancing their performance and capabilities Collaborate with a fun, tech-savvy crew to bring product   requirements and technical specifications to life Contribute to system architecture design and introduce fresh ideas to   spearhead new project initiatives Use your problem-solving   prowess   to debug and   optimize   system   performance, enhancing efficiency Co-create technical documentation and user manuals for developed core   technology components Stay on the pulse of industry trends and drive innovative solutions Leverage AI workflows in the firmware development process     A successful candidate should have:   Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a   related field Solid foundation in C/C++ programming languages in Linux development   environments Interest in systems-level Linux development, driver development, and C++   multithreaded applications in embedded systems Stellar problem-solving skills, a knack for debugging, and an insatiable   curiosity for optimization Enthusiastic "Maker" mentality with a passion for creating and building   things, driven to bring innovative ideas to life Strong drive to learn and explore   new technologies, fueled by curiosity   about how things work Ability to rapidly dive deep into unfamiliar technologies as needed to solve   complex problems, while   maintaining   versatility across a broad range of technical   domains Be a self-starting, team-playing individual who loves crossing the finish   line with the group Strong communication   skills, with the ability to articulate technical   concepts in a simple manner   Some nice-to-haves:   Familiarity with the   Yocto   project and building custom Linux distributions Experience developing firmware for Linux based embedded systems Interest or experience in developing firmware for advanced networked   devices Familiar with AVB, Dante, and other advanced network protocols and   concepts Experience with revision control systems such as Git An understanding and appreciation of agile development practices Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) and real-time operating   systems (RTOS)   What we offer:     Medical, Dental, and Vision       3 weeks annual PTO and 9 paid holidays       401(k) + matching       Employer-paid base life insurance, short, and long-term disability       Health savings accounts (with Biamp contribution) and flexible spending accounts       Tuition reimbursement       Charitable donation matching    Discretionary company achievement bonus    Referral bonuses       Salary for this role is $148,000.00 DOE     Who is Biamp?     We make the world’s most extraordinary audio and video solutions.
